Healthy Spiritual Life

Mathew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Our main goal in following the commandments of our Lord God is not only to please him... So he will bless us with the things that we need and want.

We do this because we need Him in our lives. His love for us is food for our soul. In as much as we would want to be independent from that love, we cannot. It is the source of our being.

I personally reach out to God to feel His presence, love and mission for me. I want to get to know Him more, hear his voice and feel his embrace. I want to fully place my trust in Him. I need His love.

Now, I realize that with my growing relationship with Him, towards a Healthy Spiritual life, I will eventually be more faithful, trusting, loving, humble, honest, caring and responsible. These are qualities to live a true Christian life in this word. With these, I am ready to properly take care of any blessing the Lord will give us, may it be material, emotional, intellectual or spiritual.

I pray that I may sustain these values and continue to use all of my abilities to be a good servant for His name, for His glory.

May the good Lord continue to touch my heart and teach me how to truly love… to truly be a good servant.

Strength in Weakness

Mathew 5:5
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

As I read more about the word of God, I come to realize how they can truly help me walk a life of faith and greatly increase my trust in God. That God wanted us to see past the material world and look out for the things that are unseen.

Looking at the simple verse above, it is one of the Beatitudes. My question… Why does God wants us to be weak?

A long time ago I came across this piece of scripture and could not understand why the Lord would want us to be meek. I used to define meek as shy, timid or submissive. For me these are qualities of being weak.

I cannot understand why the Lord would want us to be weak, when we are gifted to be the best we can be.

Now, as I come to realize that these words are not meant to mean what they are in the material world. That one must reflect on them and ask God’s wisdom to gain one of the many spiritual meanings of it.

I have come to realize that to be meek means to have control. That is to have the ability to use power intelligently. Be able to be so strong yet gentle. Be so smart yet has an open mind. Be so loving but is willing to yield…

God ever so powerful loved us first. Sent his only Son Jesus to be with us and die for us.

I must have control over my resources. I must learn to control my strengths and my weaknesses. I am created by God. I am in His image. He loves me. He gave me power. He knows I can do great things.

I must learn to have control over my actions. I must glorify Him for everything that I do.

Count the Blessings

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

How many times do we think about not having the things that we want? We often go through life dreaming to fulfill our emptiness or find contentment and pleasure.

Sometimes it is easier for us to see the good in others than to see the best in us. We often, see things that we do not have. When we focus on what we do not have, we may find that we are less than others.  We may think that we are not blessed.

It will be very difficult to feel and appreciate the goodness and grace of God if we concentrate our attention to the thing we are waiting to happen. As we wait for specific requests and prayers to be answered, we loose sight of God’s work in our lives.

Let us count the blessings that we have today. It can be the food you have to eat, the water you drink, the commute to the office, the health you are enjoying now. The love of a family member and the simple things that make you smile.

To appreciate the blessings that we have in our life will put us in a state of gratitude. In this state, we are building a stronger bond with God. We become thankful. We learn to trust in Him and we increase the level of faith we keep in
Him. To count the blessings we have now, will teach us to rely on Him no matter what.

When we count our blessings we realize that we are loved. When all is said and done, as we focus on our gifts from God, we learn to find true contentment. We are secure, knowing that he already provided for us and will continue to do so. When we count our blessings we see how God moves in our lives. We will see the miracles He already done for us.

By Faith

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Many times in our life, our choices and decisions are based on logical computations, calculations and planning. We look at all the angles, check the historical data and make calculated projections before moving on with a business or an investment. It gives us a sense of security. It gives objective to the task at hand. It is the most normal and/or logical thing to do to succeed.
Now, Faith gives a different dimension on how we do things. It is not calculated or logical.
It is by faith that one gives more of himself. It is blind, no projection of the future and no historical data. It is by faith that we learn to fall deeply for God. It is by faith that we become extra-ordinary and somewhat crazy.
Faith is like love. When we fall in love, we do crazy and illogical things, we become extra-ordinary. It is by faith that we are called to follow Jesus and his ways.
Jesus, many times gave emphasis on faith. Remember that wedding, where Mary, Jesus’ mother told him that there was no more wine (John2:1-11), and the Centurion who came to Jesus (Luke 7:1-10) and when Jesus appeared to Thomas (John 20:24-29).
It is by faith that we become fully dependent to the Lord our God. It is by faith where we can become stronger. It is by faith that we can go beyond the material things. It is by faith that we can become extra-ordinary. By faith we are rewarded.

Committed to You

Proverbs 16:3
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
When we take in God's gift to us, we accept Him in our life. We commit to live by His ways.
For me it was difficult at first. I had to unlearn things... I had to be open and take in a new paradigm.
I remember, the basic was I had to get rid of my addiction. At that time, it was smoking. Now, I am happy to say that since the day I committed my life to God, I never smoked again (I hope I never will).
I used to look at the practicality of things. If it is easy and convenient, then I go for it. Not minding the implications of my actions. Never really thinking that I am hurting others and disobeying God.
The change in me brought about a sense of consiousness with God's will in my life. To be under his protection and authority.
The key to committing to Him is love. If we truly love Him and accept Him in our life. We will let Him have his way.
From Ru Della Torres' book Road Trip
When you committed your life to Jesus, you handed over the driving priviledges to Him.
This means He has a say in the whos, whats, where and how of your life.
As we all go forward and live our lives, let us remember that God is above us. Everything we have is from Him. He will give us the desires of our heart, we just need to step-out in faith, and in His own time and His will, we will have our blessings.

The Gift of God

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
When we sin, we take damage in all aspects of our life, not only spiritual. The damage is physical, emotional, mental, and social.
The damage will cause us to feel the hurt and the strain of our actions. It will affect how we act, how we treat ourselves and how we treat others.
If we continue to hurt, along the way, slowly we will numb, and die. A man hurting will be unable to contribute, He will be hindered.
God gave us a Gift. That is Jesus Christ.
Do you want to take away the hurt?.. Start a fresh?... Remove the stain of sin on you?
I am sure the answer is Yes!
Then, accept the gift which is Jesus Christ in your life. Accept him in your life, believe that he is Lord and Savior.
Through his death, he took away our sins. With his blood, he washed us clean.
With Jesus in our life, despite our past, and whatever the future will bring, we have eternal life with Him.

I Am Special

Psalms 16:2
I said to the Lord, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing."
We are all the same, no one is different. We have dreams, we set goals. We look out for things that we want in our life.
As I look back, there are a lot of things that I am proud of, but there are also some I would rather forget. I have come to realize that all of them thought me a lesson.
I know, I'll do more great things in my life. Certainly, I'll fail on so much too...
With all the things I have done and all the things that I will do... I know I am special as long as I keep the Lord in me.
